On Saturdays we are providing a Supplementary and Mother Tongue School at both Whitefield School and the London Academy, from 10.30 am – 3.30 pm (including art classes from 1.30 – 3.30 pm). The school fee is £5 per family per month.
The number of Afghan children attending the Saturday school has increased to 164 at the London Academy and 74 at Whitefield School. The Supplementary classes provides support with the subjects of Maths and Sciences, while the Mother Tongue classes offer tuition in Dari and Pashto. An additional 98 pupils from Afghanistan, Iran as well as other nationalities were given the opportunity to improve their studies throughout the week with the help of the teachers’ assistants provided by the Association.
Our teachers also help out with family difficulties involving disabled parents or parents with language difficulties of their own, or those with children who keep running away from home, play truant or are victims of bullying, or who struggle with their homework.
